SafetyCamAI Privacy Policy

SafetyCamAI Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 28, 2025

SafetyCamAI is an image-only safety check tool. We do not provide name/text search,
we do not host third-party records, and we do not sell or monetize personal data.
When matches appear, they are links or references to external sources. This Privacy Policy explains
what we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

1) Information We Collect

  • Images you submit: Face photographs or frames you upload or capture for searching. You must have the legal right to submit these images.
  • Derived technical data: Non-identifying technical outputs (e.g., embeddings, probabilistic similarity scores) generated to perform an image match.
  • Usage & device data: Basic diagnostics (e.g., browser type, device info, IP address, timestamps, error logs) for security, fraud prevention, and service performance.
  • Account & billing (if applicable): Email, password (hashed), subscription tier, and necessary payment metadata handled by our payment processor (we do not store full payment card numbers).
  • Support communications: Messages you send to us (e.g., support tickets, takedown notices, legal requests).

We do not collect or provide text/name search, and we do not run or publish a public gallery of persons.

2) How We Use Information (Purposes & Legal Bases)

  • Provide the Service: Perform image-only matching and show links or references to external sources. Legal bases: your consent (for face images), contract (to deliver the service), and our legitimate interests (service reliability and safety).
  • Security & abuse prevention: Detect misuse (e.g., scraping, automated attacks) and protect users. Legal bases: legitimate interests; compliance with law.
  • Improvement & analytics: Aggregate, de-identified metrics to improve accuracy, speed, and reliability. Legal bases: legitimate interests; consent where required.
  • Legal compliance: Respond to lawful requests and enforce our Terms. Legal bases: compliance with law; legitimate interests.

No PII monetization: We do not sell personal information. We do not accept payment to remove content.

3) How We Share Information

  • Service providers (processors): Hosting, storage, security, analytics, email, and payment vendors that process data on our behalf under protective contracts.
  • Legal & safety: When required by law or to protect rights, security, and safety of users and the public.
  • Business transfers: In a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, data may transfer subject to this Policy’s protections.

No selling or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising: We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for targeted advertising as defined by applicable law.

4) Sensitive & Special-Category Data (Face Images)

Face photographs you submit can constitute biometric or special-category data. We process such data only to perform the image-only search you request and related security/fraud-prevention, and only with your affirmative action as consent (e.g., uploading or capturing an image and clicking “search”). Where required, you may withdraw consent by not submitting images or by requesting deletion (see Your Privacy Rights).

In jurisdictions with special restrictions (e.g., Pennsylvania CHRIA), access may be limited or disabled. Arrest/booking images (where permitted) do not imply guilt and must not be used for FCRA-regulated purposes (employment, housing, credit, insurance, etc.).

5) Retention & Deletion

  • Images: Uploaded images are retained only as long as necessary to complete the search, maintain short-term security logs, and improve reliability (e.g., transient caching). We aim to minimize retention and, where feasible, store non-reversible representations (e.g., one-way embeddings) instead of the original image.
  • Accounts & subscriptions: We retain basic account and billing records as required for operations, fraud prevention, and legal obligations.
  • Deletion requests: You may request deletion of your account data and images (to the extent we retain them) via [email protected]. We will honor valid requests subject to legal holds or safety obligations.

6) Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures (encryption in transit, access controls, least-privilege, logging, and monitoring) designed to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; you use the Service at your own risk.

7) Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent (for face images).
  • Portability of certain information.
  • Opt-out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling where applicable (we do not sell personal data or share for cross-context ads).
  • Appeal a decision regarding your request, where required by law.

To exercise rights, contact [email protected].
We may verify your request and respond within the time required by law. Authorized agents may act on your behalf where permitted.

8) U.S. State Disclosures (CCPA/CPRA, Colorado, Virginia, etc.)

For residents of California and other states with similar privacy laws:

  • Categories collected: Identifiers (e.g., email, IP), internet activity (usage logs), and user-submitted images. Sensitive data may include face photographs you submit.
  • Sources: You (directly), your device/browser, and service providers performing analytics and security functions.
  • Business purposes: Provide and secure the Service; detect fraud/illegal activity; internal research and service improvement; debugging/repair.
  • “Sale”/“Sharing”: We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Retention: See Retention & Deletion.
  • Right to know, delete, correct, and limit use of sensitive data: See Your Privacy Rights.
  • Non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

If we ever engage in practices that qualify as a “sale” or “sharing,” we will provide required notices and a “Do Not Sell/Share” mechanism.
